Climate change is real and affects Ghana through extreme weather, food insecurity, and environmental degradation. Combined with the pollution from unregulated recycling businesses and galamsey, Ghana is on the brink of an environmental cliff of no return.
Ghana must reduce its reliance on fossil fuels and accelerate investments in sustainable energy; solar and wind are the obvious choices. Ghana is ideally situated to implement advanced technologies to generate power. My commitment to environmental protection, clean water, and responsible land use is essential for public health and long-term economic stability. Sustainable development is not optional—it is a national priority.
The diversity of Ghana’s environment can attract the world’s leading climate scientists, who will relish the chance to establish research and development hubs in West Africa. However, climate scientists and sustainable energy companies will not risk their investments in a country riddled with corruption, from the Presidential Palace to local government officials.
Innovative scientists and tech firms are Ghana’s best hope for correcting the damages caused by galamsey and polluting recycling businesses. I will confront these industries head-on to shut them down. I will invite global innovators to Ghana to invest in technologies for flood remediation, water purification, sustainable energy and research and development projects in other job producing technologies. Ghana must lead Africa into the age of advanced technology that will guide the world through the future.
I commit to a corruption-free and transparent central government that works in partnership with international scientists and companies. Together with Ghana’s entrepreneurs and universities, technologies to mitigate climate change can be researched, developed, and applied throughout our regions.
As President of Ghana, I will work every day to attract private capital investment in research and development from our farms to the sea. Innovation and commitment are required for Ghana to become the lighthouse of the continent. I will not beg the World Bank to refinance a mortgage; instead, I will show international scientists, companies, universities, and investors that Ghana is a serious, corruption-free nation. I will invite the world to see that the people of Ghana are hardworking learners ready to lead the world in innovation.
