Enforcement of Law and Order

The enforcement of law and order begins with the eradication of corruption at every level of government. Government corruption is a root cause of street crime; the citizens of any nation will not respect a government mired in corruption and bribery. Crime in Ghana begins at the ballot box.

In Ghana, elections are riddled with corruption and bribery from domestic and international sources. Corruption taints every election with an influx of foreign money from interlopers looking to control the agenda for the next four years. Voters and election monitors receive bribes of money and goods to change election outcomes. This sets the precedent for petty street crimes in communities filled with hopelessness.

Crime is not an isolated social issue; it is the result of government policies that flaunt ill-gotten wealth. Corrupt government officials, law enforcement personnel, and security force officers are the faces of corruption. This blatant dishonesty feeds crime at every level.

The effective enforcement of law and order begins with the Ministry of Justice, the offices of prosecutors and judges, and the ranks of the police, security forces, military, and detention facilities. Only a judicious, fair, and corruption-free system can effectively enforce law and order.

My goal is to reimagine a constitution that protects the people and eliminates the tolerance and rewards of government corruption. Crime and punishment are a complex web of socio-economic triggers. Addressing the enforcement of law and order requires a concerted effort. It begins with a corruption free government at the helm.

Together, from the community to the regional and national levels, we must establish just laws and decide if we are a nation that believes in severe punishment, rehabilitation, or a combination of both.

We must pass strict laws for which we have no tolerance. The crimes of galamsey and government corruption need harsh custodial sentences that match crimes against people, such as rape and murder. I am determined to address the socio-economic causes of crime by cleaning the halls of government with the disinfectant of confiscatory powers. Galamsey, government corruption, bribery, and election interference are all crimes against the people of Ghana. Those convicted should serve long custodial sentences and have their assets confiscated and deposited in the National Treasury.
