I have no illusions about the road ahead. It will be difficult. It will demand sacrifice, integrity, and courage. I believe Ghana can do better. I am committed to doing my part—with honesty, accountability, and unwavering dedication to my people.
Together we can do better. A strong democracy needs leaders who will fight for the present and future of the country. The freedom fighters of 1957 did not step away from standing up for independence, democracy, and self-rule.
Today, Ghana is crumbling under the weight of government corruption, with industrialist and foreign interlopers raiding its resources. The United Kingdom was a formidable foe; that did not stop Kwame Nkrumah from leading in the face of overwhelming odds. We, the people, face the overwhelming odds of corruption. I am ready, studied, learned, and prepared to lead Ghana back to democracy with the same tenacity as Kwame Nkrumah.
There are two roads ahead of us. The one we are on is riddled with corruption, littered with the pollution of galamsey, and dumsor—a living manifestation of government incompetence.
The other road is the path to prosperity. It is a path that requires leaders who are willing to serve; leaders with a plan to enhance the lives of Ghanaians today and those yet to be born. I have a plan born from years of traveling and observing governments that work, those that don’t, and those that sacrifice their people for wealth.
Ghana is not a poor nation. It is rich in resources, talent, desire, hope, and faith. It is poor in government leadership. I have no illusions—it will be a hard and rocky road—but together we can pave the road to a new Ghana. A Ghana that shares the prosperity of its resources equally. I have a leadership plan.
My plan for our nation is extensive. It includes a 10-, 20-, and 50-year commitment to rebuilding, reimagining, re-energizing, and reigniting the hope, love, and prosperity of a free, independent, and democratic Ghana.
To briefly outline my plan for Ghana: we must concentrate on investing in a science-based data driven human-centered economy that will provide for the present and the future without destroying the natural resources and the beauty of our nation.
Briefly put, we must dismantle the industry of corruption created by the ruling parties over the past decades. This includes, but is not limited to:
Dismantling the over 50 ministries where cronies go to graze and feed on the wealth of our nation.
Ending unfair, one-sided contracts with foreign governments and corporations which give free reign to the exploitation of Ghana, its people, and its resources.
Rebuilding while imagining a technology-based education, health, and social services system.
Providing job training specifically to rebuilding the infrastructure, cities, homes, and institutions for the benefit of the people.
Providing a standard of living wage, clean water, food, and shelter across the land.
Cutting the excessive wages and benefits of government and government-owned industries. A government official in any capacity should never earn 5,000 times the annual wage of a family of the governed; this is a sin against humanity. It must end.
Realigning ourselves with international corporate partnerships and governments that can provide our people with the technologies and tools needed to succeed in becoming a nation that exports more than it imports in a clean, sustainable, and environmentally friendly way. Majority ownership must be retained by Ghanaians.
We must END galamsey NOW.
My plan must always evolve to meet the changes and challenges of providing for our people. The nation of Ghana and the sweat, labor, and sacrifices of its people must stop being used to provide a luxury lifestyle to the ruling parties, their members, friends, and families. The government must exist to serve the people, not the people to serve the government. I am ready to serve not for wealth and power, but for the future of my children, my grandchildren, and the generations to follow.
Together we can do better. My plan will sweep away the corruption, nepotism, and financial schemes that have sold the present and future of our nation to the highest bidder. I need every professor, journalist, teacher, banker, doctor, lawyer, chief, construction worker, Trotro driver, student, pure-water seller and every Ghanaian to walk the road to prosperity.
Together, we can do better.
