MINISTRY OF EDUCATION

MINISTRY OF EDUCATION

    • A foundational building block for the future is a comprehensive Educational System. The current Education Ministry must be re-evaluated, restructured and re-organized to provide equal educational opportunities across all 16 Regions of the Nation.
    • Curriculum concentrating on career and trade skills must be offered in every school district throughout the country.
    • An effective educational system relies on competent, dedicated teachers who are justly compensated and given the tools and resources they need to effectively educate the youth.
    • In conjunction with the new Departments of Economic Development, Tech and the Ministry of Energy, the mission of the restructured Education Ministry will be to build new schools in every district outfitted with renewable energy, high tech labs and recreational facilities.
    • Over the past decades under the corrupt two-party system many of Ghana’s best and brightest citizens have left the country for what they saw as “greener pastures” with opportunities not found at home. The Education Minister and the Diaspora Secretariat will be tasked with working together to aggressively reach out to Ghana’s Citizens abroad to offer them opportunities at home in their respected occupation, career or skill. As a Nation determined to rebuild, we will encourage our brightest Citizens to return to their home and find a future filled with opportunity. We will urge them to aid their fellow Ghanaians in teaching skills to our youth and investing in businesses that will grow the Nation and economy.
    • Agenda 2024 sees an expanded role for the Education Ministry in offering specialized curriculums in all 16 Regions. Beginning in pre-school, which we must work to make available to all our children, fundamental reading, math and critical thinking skills should be the focus. Beginning in the Primary Grades, schools should offer essential courses of study in Science-Technology-Engineering-Math (STEM) focused on achieving attainable goals for all students. Beyond core subjects Agenda 2024 is proposing the Ministry of Education have dedicated curriculum for those that are interested in or possess a natural ability in specialized fields including Art, Technology, Medicine, Science, Agriculture, Conservation, Engineering and Government Affairs.
    • Schools throughout the Nation must have available programs to teach skills needed for our youth to find employment beyond academic pursuits. Ghana as a Society undergoing a rebuilding phase will need trades people. The youth of our Nation should be able to obtain a fundamental education along with job specific training in their schools in order to obtain gainful employment upon graduation. Agenda 2024 proposes that the Ministry of Social Services in partnership with the Ministry of Education foster vocational training curriculums for those that want to be electricians, plumbers, masons, carpenters, mechanics, along with every other necessary skilled laborer required by a growing economy.
    • Agenda 2024 knows that a strong education system is the best hope for our youth to achieve their goals. The Agenda 2024 Blueprint seeks to streamline and strengthen the Ministry of Education with well-paid teachers, instructors and staff, modern buildings, innovative curriculums as well as strong sports, arts, science and community programs beyond the classrooms. All are vital to our youth, their hopes, their dreams, and the future of our Nation.
